Getting Old With Bruce

Bruce Springsteen is turning 60 today!!! OMG!!!! He looks good!!!! My husband, daughter and her friends, and I are going to see him in St. Louis on October 25th. It will be our first time to see him in concert and we are so excited. Isn’t it marvelous that our 27 year old daughter loves him too? I think we love him because he is just a regular working guy! He sympathizes with the working class and pushes for hope in times of turmoil. His music is awesome! His concerts are amazing!

I hope I look as good as Bruce when I turn 60. I’m a few years away from the senior citizen discount but I still feel about 29 although I probably look my age. Darn!

Most of our favorite bands are in their fifties, sixties, seventies…. Mick Jagger is 66. Marshall Tucker’s Doug Gray is 61. Jimmy Buffett is 63. Paul McCartney is 67. Jerry Lee Lewis is 74. Recently, we were talking with our friends about how we can still go to concerts and see the performers we listened to in our teens and twenties. This year we saw Jimmy Buffet, Styx, REO Speedwagon, and 38 Special and they gave wonderful concerts. These concerts are especially precious because each one might be the last time we will ever see them. “We will never pass this way again” is a song by Seals and Crofts about how quickly life passes. Think about the loss of Michael Jackson, Jerry Garcia, John Lennon, etc.

Some people say that sixty is the new forty. I like that. It gives me something to look forward to and more time to accomplish everything on my bucket list

Happy Birthday Bruce! Rock on!
