The End of A Great Summer
Just four more days until Labor Day. It has been a cool, wet summer which passed quickly. I spent my summer getting my last child ready for college and making projects for our local fair and trying to keep up with the weeds in my yard. We did a lot of fun things. We went to Pella, Iowa for an old fashioned 4th of July celebration and to a Styx, REO Speedwagon, and 38 Special Concert in St. Louis. We saw Jimmy Buffett in Chicago. We went to a lot of baseball games here in town and in St. Louis. We went to the county and state fairs. All in all it was a good summer!
My son and I took our dog to the vet yesterday. He had a very painful ingrown toenail. The nail technician clipped all his nails and luckily the ingrown one fell right out. Arthur is 13 years old and suffers from arthritis in his back legs. He also has a terrible rash under his armpits and chest. He is going back to the vet in a couple of weeks to have these things looked at again. I have been treating his rash with benadryl tablets and Sulfadene lotion and the arthritis with Glucosamine tablets and buffered aspirin. There is a little improvement but maybe the vet can help him feel a little better.
I am busy making candy corn appliques for potholders and bags in my store for Halloween. They are very cute. Last fall I published a free pattern for my Candy Corn Coasters in this blog and I believe it is still available. I will be making more coasters and selling them as well as potholders and bags and other holiday items in my store.
My other son is coming home from college to visit and do his laundry today. I can't wait to see him. I will probably see a lot of changes.
