Mini Pumpkin Crochet Pattern

Make some cute little pumpkins for fall decorating using your scrap yarn. You can make some very creative pumpkins!

(Each pumpkin is approximately 2 1/2 inches wide)

Small amounts of orange and brown yarn
crochet hook size f
polyester stuffing
yarn needle
sewing thread and needle

Using orange:
Round 1: Chain 2.   Work 6 single crochet (sc) in 2nd chain from hook. (6sc). Note: It will be helpful to mark the beginning of each round, moving the marker as you progress to the next row.)
Round 2: Work 2 sc in each sc. (12sc).
Round 3: (sc in first sc, work 2 sc in second sc), repeat 5 more times. (18 sc.).
Round 4: (sc in first two sc, work 2 sc in next sc.), repeat 5 more times. (24 sc).
Rounds 5-10: work even on 24 sc.
Round 11: Decrease -  (sc in first two sc, sc next two together), repeat 5 more times. (18 sc.).
Round 12: Decrease - (sc in first sc, sc in next two together), repeat 5 more times. (12sc).
Stuff pumpkin firmly.
Round 13: Decrease - ( sc first two sc together, repeat 5 more times).
End off, leaving about 36 inches of yarn. Thread end of yarn into a yarn needle and sew top closed. Insert needle through center top of pumpkin coming out of center bottom. Pull tight to make a ridge. Repeat 5 times to make even grooves,  secure yarn, and cut off.

Using brown:
Chain 4.
Slip stitch in 2nd and third chain from hook.
Work 7 half double crochet in last chain. Join to first half double crochet and end off.
Sew to top of pumpkin with stem sticking up.

Variations: Experiment with a variety of orange or ivory yarns and crochet hooks sizes f through h to get different sizes and textures. Using two strands of yarn and size g or h hook will make a larger pumpkin. Add a dab of cinnamon oil to stuffing for a scented pumpkin.
